¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ students shine at Skills Canada BC Competition

Ten ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ students have new hardware for the trophy cabinet after medaling at the most recent .

Held last week at the Tradex in Abbotsford, the annual event, now in its 30th year, sees students from around the province compete in trades-related competitions.

According to Martin Lim, Career Development Facilitator at Fraser Heights Secondary, ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ had 18 students competing across nine categories.

“All did very well in their trade area, and a few brought medals back to their school,” he said.

Out of the 10 medalists from the district, three won gold in their respective trades and will move on to compete at the in Quebec City at the end of May:

 Web Design

  • Gold: Daniel Cook – Earl Marriott Secondary

 2D Animation

  • Gold: Kathy Lei & Elaine Shen – Fraser Heights Secondary
  • Bronze: Bella Stronach & Saidy Flores-Osor – Fraser Heights Secondary

 Graphic Design

  • Bronze: Annika Rena – Fraser Heights Secondary

Architectural CAD

  • Bronze: Nathaniel Butler – Ecole Salish Secondary

 Photography

  • Bronze: Sonia Krishan – Fraser Heights Secondary

TV Video Production

  • Bronze: Ethan Kong & Nicolas Didier – Fraser Heights Secondary

 Electronics

  • Silver: Mark Ordinario – Kwantlen Park Secondary
  • Bronze: Mehtaab Gill - Kwantlen Park Secondary
